We unite the Friends Groups of Victoria. By becoming a registered member, you will connect with environmental volunteers across our magnificent state. We expand your reach and amplify your impact, unlocking a world of possibilities for your volunteers and the flora and fauna we collectively work to protect.
Friend Groups are as varied as the landscapes they work in, from urban environments to coastlines, riverbanks, and bushland settings. Friends Groups may work with a variety of management authorities such as DEECA, Local Councils, Parks Victoria, Water Authorities, or represent other groups caring for nature such as Field Naturalists or Gardens for Wildlife Victoria.
By joining the Victorian Environment Friends Network (VEFN), you become part of a collective force of environmental advocates and dedicated volunteers who make positive changes to Victoria’s beautiful landscapes, creating positive change throughout local communities. We offer more than a community, our organization can help to promote visibility, resource management and funding opportunities for those engaged in volunteering at any level.
Our community members have diverse knowledge, with each local environmental group making an impact at their area. VEFN acts as a hub and a meeting point, this allows sharing, growth, and support with various levels. You can expect:
Strengthened presence and advocacy within State, Regional and Federal governments with access to relevant authorities on behalf of local environmental needs.
The opportunity to collaborate with regional networks that encourage knowledge and support, with pathways for community leaders to provide direct advice, opportunities to meet like minded members and community, building meaningful connection to people with the environment.
Gain access to various online and workshop style learning events across numerous technical and professional operation skills. We aim to keep everyone updated with the most current guidelines and requirements across many different fields of work.
Fully integrated digital platform of operational resources, including guides for governance, volunteer training, best practices in community engagement and funding pathways for your projects, and links to relevant policies or agencies.
Provide you visibility throughout community and digital resources with recognition for work undertaken by all local member groups, including pathways to win local environment awards through annual Friends Network awards events.
